My little art spiel
I correlate country, folk, indie & classic music with the style of Renaissance art. They are all detailed, emotional, romantic & direct.
Electronic, rock, reggae, & rap music with the style of Abstract Expressionism art. At first glance, you think, “Pshhh, a 3-year old can do this” but when you take a closer look, you see hidden details. It looks effortless like reggae has an effortless feel to it. Rap & rock music are notorious for bluntly stating facts which are known to be misunderstood/misinterpreted. A lot of people don’t appreciate electronic music because they think that anyone can throw a couple beats in a computer & call themselves a DJ. What they fail to realize is that it takes a keen ear and a heart for a mind-blowing, earth-shattering beat to create a sense of euphoria for their audience.
One must know the history & explore the relevance of an art form to truly understand, appreciate, and give a qualified opinion of it.
Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder? You decide. What do you see?
